Who we are
We are three voices (Britt Malec, Hannah Miller and Liv Sulerud) in the boreal forest of Minnesota, writing songs that explore a sense of place.
With an emphasis on the raw, unadorned vocal quality evoked by singing outdoors, our songs play with the acoustic hunger of our northern environment along the shores of Lake Superior.
Inspiration comes from walks in the woods, resting on the shore, and nights under the northern lights.
From backgrounds in community and choral singing, we’ve cultivated an awareness of the power of blended voices to connect and heal. By singing songs that celebrate, witness, and inhabit the natural animacy around us, we hope our work moves us toward a clearer ecological consciousness.
Knowing that through the repetition of these short, singable songs, something like trance can occur, we embed our songs with the messages we need for our own and our community healing; with each repetition, they sink a little deeper into our being.
